About us
In 2021, living through the COVID-19 pandemic underscored the urgent crisis of homelessness and addiction in our community. In response, we began outreach efforts, focusing on building relationships and establishing a foundation of trust. It quickly became evident that many individuals were seeking help but lacked a clear path to achieve freedom from homelessness and addiction.

Our research revealed a significant barrier: OHIP-covered treatment centers often had wait times of up to six months. For those coming straight from the streets, undergoing a five-day detox only to return to the streets while waiting for treatment posed an immense challenge.
Recognizing this critical gap early on, we began exploring ways to create a safe and supportive environment where individuals could stay while waiting for licensed treatment. Our mission was to restore hope and affirm that everyone deserves a better life. From this vision, RHOR was born.
As we opened our first house, we discovered another unmet need: individuals completing treatment still faced the challenge of finding supportive housing. This highlighted the importance of transitional housing, which is crucial for sustained recovery and long-term housing stability.
